About Us AND WHY LOTUS SEVEN'S
Why Lotus Seven's
I have always loved lotus 7 type cars. I guess it might be because it is the first car I learned to drive back in 1966.
It was built in Hueytown Alabama by my Uncle Hugh McCullough, Mikes dad.
He started building the car in the early 60's and I remember him
talking about drivers that he knew like Red Farmer, Junior Johnson, and Fireball Roberts. I learned later that these guys were some of the original "Alabama Gang". Uncle Hugh is alive and well and I will interview him about those times and post it soon. I remember the first race I attended in Birmingham and it is burned into my memory. Very tight concrete track, steel rails and fences with no forgiveness. Many bad wrecks and I remember several Lotus Sevens in the race. I think they either closed the track soon after that or banned this class of car that raced there.
